This architectural gesture transforms what could have been a rigid boundary into a welcoming threshold – an in‑between space where visitors and patients can pause before entering the hospital. The recess not only softens the edge of the building but also accommodates seating and shade, offering comfort while maintaining a sense of openness to the street. The planter detail integrated with the structural design helps in cooling the space. In effect, the wall becomes more than a barrier; it frames a transitional veranda‑like area that extends the hospital’s care outward into the public realm.
