Jagli Katte (verandah/sitting space) became the inception point of Aamra’s spatial organisation. Surrounded by mango orchards and northern mountain views, the house was envisioned with as many semi-open spaces as enclosed ones.

The architectural aesthetics grows out of the low floating form, its minimal and stark elements highlighting the function it hosts. Hence, the Jagli, with its inbuilt seating, meets the reclaimed wooden columns, meets the upcycled swing set, climbs up the terrace through a brick wall suspended staircase, and uses the roof form as both a sky gazing and a reclining area.

The drawing captures pausing as an inherent and inbuilt idea within everyday life.
