Soil Stacks was shortlisted for the 2024 Antepavilion competition. The proposal is a structure of dry-stacked burlap bags, reinforced by interweaving ropes. Filled with soil collected directly from the triangular site, the bags form stackable units that accumulate into a stepped façade, transforming soil from a horizontal ground condition into a vertical architectural surface. The resulting courtyard is punctuated by three carefully proportioned entrances, creating moments of passage, pause, and chance encounter.
