Illa by the Sea, located along the Thottam shoreline in Udupi, is shaped by the region’s relationship with rivers, sea, and coastal climate. The drawing explores this connection by translating the project’s spatial and material language into a visual narrative. The central courtyard, fluid circulation, river-inspired bedroom walls, and filtered light are key elements of the design. Each bedroom is named after and inspired by a different river that flows into the Arabian Sea, translating the landscape into the architecture through flowing forms, colours, and patterns. The drawing captures this narrative through hand-drawn linework, tonal layering, textures, and material detailing, highlighting the project’s connection to place, climate, and regional identity.
