Socio-cultural impositions have had long-lasting consequences on the built environment. Urban spaces are recognised as contested spaces where the ‘right to the city’ is dependent upon a number of social variables which includes gender. As a part of the competition “rip. mix. burn”, where the aim was to use the power of representation to critique the existing city and reimagine the future city, the illustration intends to promote the idea of gender-inclusive spaces and emphasises on understanding the need of space that would encourage the growth of a woman, as an individual, as a community, and as a progressive society.
