Set within the renowned Kilimanoor Palace’s grounds in Kerala, the image is a depiction of its Thekkekottaram or Southern Palace, a small fragment of its extensive edifice and rich historical past. A past life is reimagined within its recently renewed form, inhabited by characters seen in paintings by Raja Ravi Varma, the Kilimanoor palace being his ancestral home. A home comprising two wings across an open to sky courtyard, this segment of the palace’s extensive row houses is a small world of its own, with each window becoming a portal to many lives lived within its layered spaces.
