The Journey: HnP Architects

To me, creating spaces is like creating a film. After figuring out the basic requirements, I start the design scene-by-scene and frame-by-frame. Just like the opening scene that instills curiosity in the viewer, here, the building makes an impact on the user—from their first step, to the first sight, first smell, or first touch. The floor they walk on is the time frame, and the elements—walls, windows, roofs, and landscape—reveal the surprises within.

In this structure, for the upper floor design, we attempted to set the first scene by revealing a Thirukkural on the existing parapet. Here, the flight of steps acts as the cliffhanger. And that’s how each ‘frame’ of the structure is planned, with the play of elements that engage the user’s senses.
