The Earth School: STUDIO BIOSIS & ECOSCULP

This exploded axonometric view is from the competition entry for The Earth School, Kafountine, Senegal. This particular illustration shows one single module and its construction technology pertaining to its context and materiality. This module repeats itself to complete the whole of the built form. The school in Kafountine is conceived with sustainable and environmentally conscious design with the use of local materials and easy-to-learn construction techniques that can be taken forward for future construction.

The five pillars of the design that govern the footprint of the project for present and future:
1. Sustainable agriculture and food security
2. Environmental conservation
3. Defense, promotion and guarantee of women’s rights
4. Water, sanitation and infrastructure
5. Footprint

The human footprint becomes the main guide to generate the design with a module representing the human anatomy that multiplies and creates spaces and volumes with free flow movement Module Development. As the humans together form the community and so the column module together form the spaces for the school with the classrooms, multipurpose hall and admin rooms.
