Given objectives were to build individualistic expressions through the process of abstraction while understanding the notion of the wall as a mental or a physical barrier and the resulting museum project was necessary to revolve around the Berlin wall crisis and showcase the struggles involved in the history through varied mediums.

Diagram 01:
Conceptual sketch showing the breakage of the wall and the frame which holds the fragments together showing the expression of fracturing and disintegration along one single axis.

Diagram 02:
Journey of Disintegration is a concept based on the gradual fall of the Berlin wall which is expressed  through fragmentation of the wall along a certain axis showing a visible breakage depicting a slow procedure which makes a stretched journey of remembrance. The dispersed fragments depict individual stories/memories of Berliners involved in the fall of the wall. These fragments of memories are spread along the wall which are dense and closely spaced in the beginning and slowly open up showing the pathway towards freedom from the restrictive nature of the living condition in one side of the city. Here, the act of dispersion represents the scattered population and social disruption in East and West Berlin.

Diagram 03: Depicts the underground exhibit levels of the wall museum.
The Wall Museum is an architectural project which was created on the notion of disintegration based on disruptive events caused during the Berlin crisis which fractured the societies of East and West Berlin. This process of disintegration represents the gradual fall of the wall leaving behind dispersed fragments of stories/struggles remembered today. The Wall Museum tries to create a memorable journey by looking at this gradual process and the fragmental exhibits showcasing the struggle involved during the Berlin Wall crisis. Therefore, this museum’s honorific designation would be “Journey of Disintegration”.
