House of Skylights: Avinya Design Studio

Nestled on a compact 30×40-foot lot and framed by three neighbouring buildings, the “House of Skylights” is an east-facing residence conceived as a luminous retreat. Its open-plan layout weaves together living, dining, and kitchen zones, while private bedrooms and baths tuck neatly into the perimeter. A sequence of strategically placed skylights punctuates the roof plane, drawing soft, natural light deep into the heart of the home and mitigating the tight urban context, while animating interior surfaces throughout the day. Minimalist interior partitions and clerestory glazing foster visual continuity, while crisp, rectilinear volumes articulate a modern architectural language. By choreographing daylight rather than views, this compact dwelling turns its restrictions into a serene, light-filled sanctuary.
