The primary objective of this studio is to conceptualise and design a mass housing development in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, in response to the critical housing shortage in one of India’s most expensive cities. The project aims to establish a vibrant, mixed-income community, accommodating a diverse range of residents, including those from the High-Income Group (HIG), Middle-Income Group (MIG), Low-Income Group (LIG), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). The design will place a strong emphasis on affordability, sustainability, and enhancing the overall quality of life for all residents. The approach to this illustration seeks to deeply understand the site, the needs of the community, and how communal spaces can gradually dissolve boundaries between different groups while fostering a sense of unity.
