Ameya – The Shiva Temple: THE B.A.D Studio

The Ameya – The Shiva Temple draws inspiration from ancient Hindu temples, incorporating modern elements to revitalise the urban fabric. A striking elliptical bridge connects the old and new temples, with one parabolic edge transforming into a ‘Ghat’ for religious activities and the other into an amphitheater with a viewing gallery. The lake, framed by the bridge, becomes a ‘Kund’ for water recreation. The temple’s sinuous concrete shell, symbolizing mountains, rises to form a ‘Shikhara,’ with ribs allowing light and ventilation. This contemporary yet spiritual structure offers a divine visual experience for pilgrims.
